A Super Weekend

Wow! I had a nice weekend! AND I am actually in Germany. I thought for a while that I should change my blog name to "Cait geht nach Europa" since I'd been spending a lot more time in other European countries besides Germany... but I didn't.

Finally got my crap in order here at home and there is a resemblance of order in my apartment... I think I've given up on keeping it SUPER tidy like I used to when people actually came to visit and have settled for having a swept floor and food in the fridge. I can't expect too much.

I planned a trip to Stockholm with my buddy KERSTIN! For those who don't know her, Kerstin is originally from Koblenz but was at UCF in 2004 as an exchange student just like I am here in Koblenz...well, she loved it so darn much that she decided to pursue a degree in Economics there and has been there since 2005 (?) and is graduated next month! YEAH! So we are packing up for a few days and going to Sweden together. Can't wait!

Friday night I finally met a good bit of the new exchange students here. Diego (Spain) had a welcome party in his box downstairs in the building here and about 25 of us crammed in there. I stayed till about midnight and finally decided I preferred breathing over good company and skedaddled back to my own box upstairs. Saturday I had to "work" for about two hours, which entailed meeting my "student" on campus for two hours to chat... this week's theme was the environment and we had a nice discussion and I made a cool, tax-free $38 for two hours of gab, which you all know I'm GREAT at :-)

My new Australian pal and I took a bus into the city and we gallivanted through the rain a bit and ended up in this Turkish place eating SUPER cheap, SUPER greasy pizza. Then we walked home, which kind of evened things out a bit. We even saw some giant ducks. Life was good.

Sunday we went on a HIKE. I call it a hike because it involved mountains to some extent. We went up to the war monument in the mountains by the dorm, to the windmill, the stables, and to the little town parallel to the university. We even found this cute little chapel in the woods. We walked for about 3 hours total and needless to say, that was my exercise for the day :-) kinda chilled for a few hours then a few of us packed up and went to the cinema and saw a real German teenie-bopper movie... it was weird because the central values were different AND the people playing teenagers in the movie were actually teenagers, not 25-year-olds posing as such.

I made some extra dough recently as well by translating a 9 page info brochure thing for a hotel in the Black Forest... still negotiating on my exact pay, but it was a lot of work and time (6 hours!).

This evening five of us enjoyed a few cocktails at the Extrablatt like old times.

Tomorrow I am taking off to Poland to visit Iwona until Sunday evening. I should be home by 10:30pm or so... may not have internet access...
